Italy - Toscany Casa Novina | Val d'Orcia

Details

Casa Novina, situated on a knoll among the enchanting Tuscan hills, enjoys an impressive 360-degree view of the Val d’Orcia in Tuscany. The mansion, inspired by medieval Sienese architecture, blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape: each window is designed to frame the surrounding hills and villages as if they were paintings.

Architect Florencia Costa was responsible for the design and direction of the work, whereas the Qart studio in Florence was responsible for the interior design and planning of the outdoor spaces. The result is an architecture that is both majestic and elegant at the same time: ample spaces, furnishings measured with proportion, pure forms, symmetries, and natural materials are the main elements of the splendid villa.

The dwelling consists of two joined bodies, one facing north and one facing south. The property is reached via a private road, which leads to the entrance façade. The living room, the focal space of the house furnished with handcrafted linen sofas, sideboards and oak bookcases, sees the view as the dominant element, thanks to the large windows and majestic stained-glass windows.

Important design pieces, such as the D.154.5 Round armchairs, Panna Cotta coffee tables and Woody stools, all by Molteni&C, complete the furnishings of Casa Novina.

Behind the majestic stained-glass windows, inside the courtyard, the D.154.2 armchair, a jewel of the prestigious Molteni&C|Outdoor collection, is placed with refined elegance next to a relaxing whirlpool bath in fine travertine. The outdoor pool, framed by three self-supporting vaults, welcomes D.150.5 chairs and Guell sunbeds, also from Molteni&C|Outdoor collection. On the lawn, to complete this idyllic panorama, the Palinfrasca sofa blends perfectly with the natural landscape that opens with a magnificent view of Pienza, San Quirico and Montalcino.
