China - Ningbo A Private Villa in Ningbo

Details

Situated in the heart of Ningbo, China, this private villa, designed by Lin Weiping of LWPD, reflects a masterful balance of tradition and innovation. Known for drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese poetry and philosophy, LWPD creates human-centered spaces that blend Eastern spirit with a contemporary, global sensibility.

Spanning approximately 1,000 square meters across four levels — from the basement to the third floor — the villa is designed to accommodate three generations of family living. The architecture is defined by openness and abundant natural light, with skylights on all four sides that bathe the interiors in sunlight throughout the day. Surrounded by gardens, the home fosters a continuous dialogue with nature, creating a calm and uplifting atmosphere.

Brands

Molteni&C contributed to this project with a curated selection of loose furniture, brought into the design through collaboration with RenUno as the dealer and project partner. The brand’s refined materials and warm tones complement the villa’s predominantly white color palette, adding a sense of depth and tranquility to the space.

The interior design is inspired by traditional Chinese gardens, with flowing, layered pathways that guide movement and introduce a meditative rhythm to the home. Each bedroom, study, and walk-in closet opens onto a private courtyard or balcony, offering dynamic views of the surrounding greenery. These features blur the boundary between inside and out, bringing a sense of serenity and retreat to urban life.

Curved ceilings throughout the bedrooms echo the organic lines of Molteni&C furnishings, seamlessly integrating architectural and interior elements. The concept of “spatial vitality” infuses the villa, creating an environment in which every detail, visible or hidden, has been carefully considered.

Designs showcased in various rooms throughout the residence’s four levels include the D.153.1 and D.154.2 armchairs by the legendary Gio Ponti; the Yoell armchair by Vincent Van Duysen; the Tuscany chaise longue by Naoto Fukasawa; and the 45˚/Tavolino coffee table by Ron Gilad.

Reflecting Molteni&C’s ongoing commitment to craftsmanship, elegance, and cultural dialogue, this partnership with LWPD and RenUno supports a vision of modern living rooted in beauty, comfort, and emotional resonance.
